Kimberly Avila, a transgender woman, on May, 13, 2017. Avila’s family and police have been searching for Avila since the disappearance but have been unable to locate Avila.
Kimberly’s family had been playing a game of Loteria the night the Kimberly went missing. Ivone Rodarte, Kimberly’s sister, dropped Kimberly off in the downtown Brownsville area around 2:30 a.m., and Avila has not been heard from since.
We gathered in Brownsville, sharing a meal with the unhoused and celebrated Kimberly Avila's birthday with a candlelight vigil.
